Description:
Red Eared Slider turtle needs permanent home. Full grown and currently in a 75gl tank, however, needs to be placed in a home that can provide a larger tank.
He is quite routined and is most happy when his schedule remains consistent.
He is fed once a day (AM). Diet consists mainly of frozen fish and some insects, and is offered greens and fruits on occasion.
Food costs are not that expensive, but as most reptile owners are aware, the cost of lighting supplies, filters, etc are not cheap, and owning a reptile is a commitment that must be well thought out and planned for.
He is fed and does his "business" in the bathtub and is then transferred to his tank with basking area and remains there for the day. He is quite good about not going to the bathroom in his tank, and so at night time he is put in the tub once again to do his business. At night he puts himself to bed in a small cat bed set up with blankets and heating pad.
He is a social turtle but can also be independent at times. He needs attention and time spent with him daily. He prefers male company, but is gentle and inquisitive with everyone.
He responds to his name and some verbal commands. He is intelligent and most capable of emotionality. Sliders have a longer life-span, and his new home must be willing to commit to a permanent situation.
I want to ensure that he is going to a home that is loving, compassionate, and committed to meeting both his physical and emotional needs for the long-term.
He would be an ideal pet for someone that does not travel much and that is around to maintain a schedule.
